Philly Bike Expo Saturday And Sunday

The bike scene in Philly is seriously gaining momentum. The City of Philadelphia and Mayor Nutter are taking big strides forward for bike sharing, and this weekend a whole expo is devoted to the local cycling community.

The 2014 Philly Bike Expo hits the Philadelphia Convention Center this weekend, November 8-9, for two jam-packed days of all things cycling.Since 2010, the folks behind Bilenky Cycle Works have organized this annual celebration of the Philly biking scene, which has certainly gained momentum these past five years, especially with the recent buzz about a citywide bike share program.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, the convention center will be filled withhundreds of exhibits of custom framebuilders, bicycle manufacturers, cycling components, accessories and apparel from local, national and international manufacturers and artisans.
The expo also welcomes organizations that are outdoor recreation-based or otherwise promote a healthy lifestyle and planet. Seminars and demos run throughout the weekend along with parties, a swap meet, rides, yoga for cyclists and much more. Check here for a complete schedule of events.
Throughout the weekend, Chewy’s food truck will be on hand, too, and bike valet service will be provided by Neighborhood Bike Works.

Tickets, starting at just $8 for an advance-purchase one-day pass, are available online. Note that attendees who buy online in advance save $2 on tickets.
