Look out, Philadelphia: This week brings a number of awesome events showcasing the city’s thriving arts scene, sports teams, rich diversity and even a taste of what’s in store for the holiday season!

Sports fans, there’s a busy week of spectating ahead, with the Villanova Men’s Basketball home opener, the Temple Men’s Basketball home opener versus crosstown rivals the La Salle Explorers, two Flyers games, a 76ers game and an important divisional game for the Eagles all going down — on home turf — in the coming days.

And — because it’s never too early to start spreading holiday cheer! — Peddler’s Villageand Dilworth Park both kick off their exciting holiday and winter programming this week for folks eager to see twinkling holiday lights, sip hot cocoa and brush up on their ice-skating skills ahead of the season.

Also this week: The First Person Arts Festival hits its stride with thought-provoking performances from talented storytellers — including Felonious Munk of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore — and enlightening workshops at venues citywide.

Two cool film festivals — the Gershman Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival and the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival — overlap this week as well. Both events feature an impressive line up of events and screenings that celebrate the Jewish and Asian experience respectively.
