Founded in 1814, the Athenaeum of Philadelphia is one of the city’s most impressive places. This remarkable institution is committed to collecting historical artifacts and antiquities, as well as disseminating useful knowledge to the public.

In honor of its 200th anniversary, the historic museum presents its newest exhibit, Treasures of the Athenaeum: 200 Years of Collecting.
Showcasing a diverse mix of furniture, sculpture, paintings, maps, drawings, silver, rare books and photographs, Treasures of the Athenaeum is not to be missed.

Each of the items in the exhibition were handpicked from the archives by a group of guest curators hailing from renowned institutions like the Library of Congress, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the University of Pennsylvania and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

And that’s not all – these distinguished guest curators will present a series of related lectures and gallery talks through the duration of the exhibit. A full schedule of events is available online now.

Treasures of the Athenaeum
